Seismic Survey Campaign: Mae Chan Fault System

Multi-week fieldwork campaign to study the active fault system in northern Thailand using modern geophysical methods.

EARTH research team conducts comprehensive seismic survey along the Mae Chan fault system to better understand the seismic hazard in northern Thailand.

Survey Methods:

• Deployment of temporary seismometer networks
• Ground penetrating radar surveys
• Paleoseismic trenching investigations
• GPS measurements of crustal deformation

Data collected will contribute to improved seismic hazard maps for Thailand and support evidence-based building code development.
