This paper demonstrates the effectiveness of Viscous Wall Dampers (VWD) for seismic retrofitting and protection. A case study of an existing RC building requiring increased live loads shows that 160 VWDs significantly improved seismic performance by increasing total damping, reducing base shear, inter-story drift, and floor acceleration. The study validates VWD as a cost-effective solution for both new construction and retrofitting of existing buildings to meet current seismic safety standards.
